Mozik is a blockchain powered music platform. Beyond just delivering music, Mozik also connects fans to artists in new and creative ways. By leveraging the strengths of blockchain, Mozik breaks down barriers and allows users to engage with and consume content on their own terms while allowing artists to monetize their work and fanbases more effectively.
What problems does it solve?
The music industry and specifically the online music delivery business has great potential but there are also several ‘pain points’ that can be improved upon:
Centralization of power and influence
The industry is controlled by large players like Tencent, Alibaba and Apple who use their status to maximize their own profits while taking power away from individual artists.
Online music works are highly reproducible and it is difficult to protect rights for them, so piracy is rampant. As a result, the interests of creators are harmed and their enthusiasm is severely damaged.
Lack of standardization in sales and trading
The lack of a unified online music trading platform makes standardized copyright transactions difficult. There are problems with inconsistencies in copyright law during cross-border transactions. The cost of payments is high, while the cost of trust is also high.
Centralization of intellectual property rights
Currently, IP rights are typically held by artists or large corporate interests. The barrier to entry for anyone else to enter this market is high.
How does Mozik address these problems?
1. Tokenization of IP
By introducing tokenized IP, artists can now choose to monetize the very ownership of their content and sell it to fans and traders on the open market. In addition, the rights can be fairly split between composers, producers, and the platform itself.
2. Content mining
By using MOZ tokens to incentivize interaction with new and trending artists, the platform can steer users towards the discovery and promotion of fresh talent.
Artists who gain a devoted following on the platform can easily fundraise to kickstart new projects and ideas, and share the success of their creations with their investors.
Consumers can purchase MOZ tokens to buy music-related and celebrity-related NFTs on the marketplace. They can also re-sell the NFTs for a profit with other users in the community.
5. Borderless, near instant settlements
Due to the fundamental nature of cryptocurrency, payments can be instant and borderless with no middle man or settlement delays.
6. Unified account system
By using blockchain, accounts are established using public/private keypairs. Creators, studios, publishers etc. will undergo additional verification to ensure authenticity, while end users can enjoy the convenience of providing no additional personal information
7. Trade rankings
Attached to the identification system, trade ranking will track users who trade quality content and trade regularly on the platform in order to reward them. These rankings will also be seen by other platform users (similar to the feedback system on Ebay, for example) in order to aid their buying decisions.
